Opera Tour Itinerary

Day 1 – Venice

Arrival at Venice Marco Polo Airport. Meet and greet with your local Tour Manager and transfer to your hotel by GT motorboat. Check-in and time at leisure. Tonight you will start your Italian experience with a typical welcome dinner at a nice local restaurant.

Day 2 – Venice

This morning start on a guided walking tour to discover Venice and its many secrets. Visit famous sights such as St. Mark’s square with the Byzantine Basilica, Rialto Bridge and the Doge’s Palace with the Bridge of Sighs. Afternoon tour of Fenice Opera House and stroll to Venice markets. Evening opera performance at the newly restored La Fenice Opera House, one of the most famous opera houses in the world.

Day 3 – Venice/Verona/Florence

Breakfast and check-out. Transfer by GT motorboat to Venice bus terminal and continue by coach to Verona. Here we go on a walking tour through the city and visit among other sights, the Roman Arena. This ancient amphitheater is still today an important and famous outdoor venue during the Opera Season as well as for Pop and Rock concerts. Late afternoon arrival in Florence, check-in and free evening.

Day 4 – Florence

After breakfast explore all the beauties of the Cradle of the Renaissance, such as the Duomo, Piazza della Signoria and much more. Afternoon free for your own activities. Evening Opera performance at the new Florence Opera House or at the Goldoni Theater.

Day 5 – Florence/Lucca/Torre del Lago/Florence

After breakfast departure to Lucca and Torre del Lago, birthplace of the composer Giacomo Puccini. Begin with a visit to Puccini’s birthplace in Lucca now home to the Puccini Museum. In the afternoon continue to the nearby Torre del Lago to visit the villa where Puccini composed most of his masterpieces. Return to Florence for an evening at leisure.

Day 6 – Florence/Modena/Parma

Departure from Florence to Modena, a major destination for the gourmand due to great food and wines but also known by racecars lovers being home to the Ferrari. But Modena is also the birthplace of Luciano Pavarotti, undoubtedly one of the greatest tenors of all time. Visit the Casa Museo Luciano Pavarotti and continue to nearby Parma.

Day 7 – Parma/Milan

This morning we will visit Busseto and Parma, known as one of Italy’s musical capitals. Quite appropriate for a town whose heart beats for opera and drama, the birthplaces of Arturo Toscanini and Giuseppe Verdi. The Regio and the Farnese Theatres are important trademarks of the city to see during our visit. We will pay a visit also to the village of Roncole, where Verdi was born in 1813. Late afternoon arrival in Milan.

Day 8 – Milan

This morning we go on a city tour of the second largest city of Italy, the ancient Mediolanum, renowned as one of the world capitals of design and fashion. The tour includes the great gothic Cathedral, the Teatro alla Scala and the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, where we can admire the famous Leonardo da Vinci’s fresco of the Last Supper (subject to availability). Afternoon free for your own activities. Evening opera performance at La Scala Theatre.

Day 9 – Milan

This morning we will dedicate some more time to Giuseppe Verdi in Milan. Verdi was not just a superb composer but also a supporter of the musical profession. In the last years of his life, he established the Casa di Riposo per Musicisti, better known as Casa Verdi. Here we will discover the fascinating stories of more than 1000 musicians. Verdi himself is buried in a crypt here. Afternoon free for shopping in the capital of fashion. Farewell dinner in a typical restaurant.

Day 10 – Milan

Departure transfer to Milan airport for your home flight. End of tour.

Gourmet Tour Itinerary

Day 1 – Turin/Alba

Arrival at Milan Airport and travel to Turin. Brief orientation tour then a visit to one
of the famous historic Cafès to taste some of the local chocolate delights. Later
we arrive on the island of Alba for an overnight stay.

Day 2 – Langhe Tour/Alba

Explore the “Langhe”, a hilly area famous for its great wines and food. Along the
Barolo Wine Trail we will visit a local winery and have a local Wine tasting. This
evening dinner is served in a quaint country restaurant, where you will sample
regional dishes made with the legendary white truffle of Alba.

Day 3 – Alba/Parma

Departure to Parma. Guided tour of this elegant town rich in art treasures and
parks. Afternoon follow a gastronomic itinerary to discover one of the best food
products of this area, the Ham of Parma and visit a factory on the green hills
south of the city.

Day 4 – Parma/Modena/Parma

In the morning we will learn more about the famous Parmesan cheese called
Parmigiano Reggiano with a guided visit to the cheese factory. Afternoon we will
move to the nearby town of Modena, universally known by gourmands for the
traditional balsamic vinegar. Accompanied by an expert guide we will visit an old
vinegar factory for a real cultural and gastronomic journey.

Day 5 – Montecatini Terme

Departure to Pisa and visit the Leaning Tower. Early afternoon arrival in
Montecatini Terme, later you will be introduced to the authentic Tuscan cuisine by
participating in a Cooking Class and learn how to impress even the most
experienced foodies.

Day 6 – Montecatini Terme/Florence/Montecatini Terme

Day Trip to Florence. Upon arrival we will enjoy a guided walking tour followed by
lunch at a typical Florence restaurant and taste great food such as delicious
soups or wine braised meat. Afternoon at leisure and return to Montecatini for an
overnight stay.

Day 7 – Montecatini Terme/Siena/Pienza/Orvieto

After a nice drive through Tuscany we will arrive in Siena, one of Italy’s most
visited attractions. We will then move south to nearby Montalcino, home to the
king of the Italian wines, the Brunello. Visit to a local winery including Wine
tasting. Late afternoon arrival in Orvieto.

Day 8 – Orvieto

This morning is at your leisure to relax and enjoy Orvieto on your own. In the
afternoon we will visit a local farm producing tasty and aromatic scented Extra
virgin Olive oil. Later enjoy a typical dinner to see how local wine and olive oil are
ideal dressing for regional dishes.

Day 9 – Rome

Departure to Rome. Guided bus sightseeing tour of famous buildings and
monuments to discover their heritage throughout the historical ages. A walking
tour will follow to see the beautiful Piazzas and Fountains. Tonight you will eat
like the Romans do in a typical local restaurant and discover Rome cuisine based
on simple but very tasty dishes like Spaghetti with Carbonara sauce.

Day 10 – Rome

Morning at leisure. Early afternoon we will drive to the Alban Hills, another
famous food and wine destination. Stroll through the small historic towns of
Castel Gandolfo and nearby Frascati where we will visit a local wine estate for
Wine Tasting. Before making our way back to Rome, tasty local specialties will be
served for our Farewell Dinner.

Day 11 – Departure

Bus transfer to Rome airport for your flight home. End of the tour

Day 2 – Venice

Afternoon is at leisure. The Tour Manager will suggest optional experiences, such as excursion to Burano and Murano or a romantic Gondola ride. Evening on your own.

Day 3 – Venice/Pisa/Florence

Breakfast and check-out. Transfer by GT motorboat to Venice bus terminal and continue by coach to Pisa. Here you will see the beautiful Piazza dei Miracoli and the Leaning Tower. In the afternoon we will drive to Florence. Check in and free evening in the cradle of the Renaissance.

Day 4 – Florence

This morning enjoy a guided walking tour of Florence starting from the Gothic style Duomo. We will then continue with a visit to Piazza della Signoria, Ponte Vecchio and the Holy Cross Church. The tour will end at the Galleria dell’Accademia, home to the famous David by Michelangelo. Afternoon is at leisure. You can keep exploring the town on your own or do some shopping at exclusive fashion boutiques as well as at typical street markets.

Day 5 – Florence/ Siena/Chianti/Assisi

Breakfast and check-out. After a nice drive through the Tuscan countryside we will arrive in Siena, where a local guide will show us the highlights of the city, which includes Piazza del Campo, home to a traditional and popular horse race, and the medieval Cathedral. After the guided tour we will visit a local wine estate to taste some delicious “Chianti Classico” wine with some local culinary delights. Late afternoon arrival in Assisi for an overnight stay.

Day 6 – Assisi/Rome

Breakfast and check-out. Guided tour of Assisi including St. Francis Basilica, Church of St. Claire and the Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli. In the early afternoon, transfer to Rome. After check-in at the hotel, your Tour Manager will suggest some nice restaurants and places to enjoy your first evening in Rome.

Day 7 – Rome

Meet your local guide for a full day of sightseeing. We will begin the exploration of the Eternal City from the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. In the afternoon our tour will continue with the monumental stairway of the Spanish steps, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. Evening on your own.

Day 8 – Rome

This morning we will explore the Vatican Museums including the Sistine Chapel. Our guided tour will continue with St. Peter’s Basilica. In the afternoon keep wandering on your own through Rome’s quaint neighborhoods. We will meet again as a group for a farewell dinner including a live folk music entertainment.

Day 9 – Home flight

Breakfast at hotel and check-out. Transfer to Rome airport for your flight home. Tour ends. ARRIVEDERCI!!!
